Hi!!, This is my second submission: Crystal Report Viewer For Draft Printing... (pure VB) Since a long time, i was searching for Code Which provides me full control over viewing and printing thru Crystal Report. Such as count how many times users had printed the report, Stop the execution of report at any given time thru VB Code, Print CR Report in Draft Mode or Fast Printing Mode, etc... I found some related code on the Net (in fact on this site only) but it was not satisfying my all needs, so i decided to dig more deep into the CR supported DLLs and OCXs and as the result i came up with some thing that am now introducing as : "Crystal Report Viewer For Draft Printing" This is at its very basic level (For those who had already bagged their heads against Crystal APIs) For others it may be a new door for understanding Crystal APIs. Thru this Code the user can view Report in Draft mode that were Made in Crystal Report without using CRViewer or CrystalReport Control. This is totally dynamic and configurable. Benefits of this Code to View Reports are: 1.) No Additional Control needed to view report. 2.) Automatically Install Draft Printer if needed. 3.) Totally Dynamic. (eg: No need to worry about parameters, sql queries, Selection Formulas used in Report, the code will take care of that. 4.) Could Install custom printing Forms, if needed. 6.) This is my first post on PSC and it happens to be my biggest program ever attempted. It is not really clossed to finished but it proves that it can be done, it is a fully functional DBMS made in VB, this includes SQL queries, multiple tables, unlimited columns, validation rules, editing feild properties. This program is not yet in beta stage, with large amounts of work to be done. I am posting this to get feedback from other people on things I could add to make the program much better or change to give it more functianality. All comments are welcome. My main reason for posting this is that a few days ago the VB code of the day was a table so called DB creater, but could only take one table. There is a lot of string manipulation in this with the DB save in a plain text file (yes I know that could become corupted easily, i am going to work on measures to prevent that and solve coruptions) In certian sections the program is fairly well documented but in others not, thats something I need to do soon. Well please give me any feedback or even test the system out, included in the ZIP is an example DB called Test.bvd you can load this and mess around with it, delete records, do SQL queries, add records, export as XML and all, some of the functions in the menu do not exist but are there to remind me of what is to come :P If you wish to vote for this do so, but as I said the program is not finished, it is more a proof of concept to show others that it is plausible. I needed to convert a bitmap to an icon without having to save it to a file. Just getting a handle to the icon was sufficient, and fncMakeIcon does it. A second function fncConvertIconToPic converts an icon handle to an (almost) picture. I used it to check the good working of fncMakeIcon. The Replace-function in VB6 is an extremely useful in many occasions, but unfortunately, it is as most string-functions in VB rather slow. Therefore I’ve tried to optimize this operation, and I must say the result is satisfying – it is nearly 50 times faster replacing 35.000 characters than the native Replace-function. The code should also work in VB5, where the native function doesn’t even exist.

The screenshot should give you a good idea of what this control does. It slows down your code. It's like a DoEvents you can manage. Great for background tasks. I had an app that needed to do database maintenance to a very large number of records. Firing the maintence sub caused the cpu to run at 100% for several minutes during which time the user could not do anything as their system all but locked up. Hence this handbrake. Using it you can run your process in the background without causing the user any inconvenience. If you set CPULimit to 0 it will introduce a one second wait into each itteration of your loop. This will create a burst effect where your routine does a process, then waits for 1 second, then does another burst etc. Alternativly you can set CPULimit to the maximum level at which your app can process to. So you could create a situation such as... do the work, but dont exceed 10% of the cpu useage. If the user is doing something then the control will just hold your app suspended until CPU useage falls, or if the user isnt using the CPU then your app can grab it and process in the background. It is important to structure your loop properly. See sample for how to use.

Version 1.1.0 has an updated Speed Control. The original version was incorrectly set in the center of the bar no matter what the speed was. Version 1.1.0 fixes that bug. This is a small demonstration showing you how to implement dynamic Photoshop-like graphics layers in VB (including alpha-blending). By this, I mean this demo shows you how to create code that will enable you to add, manipulate and move each individual layer at runtime while using a small amount of memory for each layer.
