MP3 CD Cataloger **UPDATED**

**** UPDATED to include an on-board MP3 Player! Now you simply double-click on the song in the search window, and Disk Pro will prompt you to insert the proper CD, and then play the song! **** Disk Pro is an MP3 Indexing program. If you have lots of CD's that contain MP3 files, and you need a quick way to see what CD has what song, this program is a great start! It allows you to rapidly index CD's (insert one by one), storing all file and volume information, ID tag info, and misc info like bit rate, length, etc, into a data file. You can then easily perform searches on one or more fields to locate the song(s) at a later time. I also added some extra GUI features, such as a translucent, detachable, dockable toolbar, html template reports, sortable listview, configuration page, and 99% persistent interface (it remembers everything so next time you start app, it will be the way you left it). Keywords used for searches are also maintained. The Export-To-HTML uses template files, so you can easily modify the files to format the output the way you choose. Again, with the update, you can now also PLAY the MP3 files right from within Disk Pro. It should be a good start for a great indexing program. If you like it, votes are always appreciated.

pureIRCd, a native win32 Internet relay Chat daemon(!) Networkable!

13th update: Okay, *everything* has changed. The IRCd will use a main RecieveQueue now which will process messages in the order it recieved them. No longer playing around with the useless Winsock control, it was way too unreliable for use in these dimensions, im utilizing the Winsock API directly now. I have made changes, corrections, bug fixes to all the code but still it didnt run fast enough in any stresstest i put it under, so i completely rewrote this program after i looked at the structure that other IRCd's (Unreal, bahamut, hybrid and so on) are built on and thought: "Hey! why didnt you come up with stuff like that?" conclusion: I dont quite see many ways to improve speed alot anymore. This IRCd supports everything a standard IRCd should be able to do. It reads from a standard ircd.conf file and also caches the ircd.motd file. (message of the day) Complete networking support has been written into this. I'm not sure if it will be able to form a network with unreal IRCd's though, dont think it'd work. And now the results of an stresstest: 2400 Users connected (clones of course :D) 6 channels, 400 users on each. One channel being flooded by 400 clients (localhost client's can generate a HUGE flood) of course this was stopped by channelmode +m but usually this would swamp the IRCd in such a flood of messages that it either goes down or cannot process anything else until the flood stops. now, if the clients (every single one of them got a message back that they couldnt speak of course, generating a flood back) would have been on another machine the server would have been easily able to handle the load. The cliens consumed about 80% of the cpu... what it all comes down to is the fact that this is the MOST STABLE and FASTEST IRCd for Visual Basic, and noone should come up to me and babble about C/C++ being faster. I know that. eof The purpose of this post is to have the means for developing an IRC Server. The difference between this server and a few others is, that this server is written in Visual Basic, and not in C, making the source code easier to maintain. Also it will not take very long to implement new features since Visual Basic allows for quite rapid development. The main goal is to get an IRC Server out of this that is fully compatible with IRCd's like Unreal, Bahamut and Hybrid, though yet, networking support isnt completed. Right now, this is the fastest and most efficient IRCd for Win32 written in Visual Basic. I'd also encourage everyone to check on http://sf.net/projects/pure-ircd for updates as i use that site for all development now. Have a nice day and enjoy the chatting.

Secrets of the ShellExecute API

This is the most nearly complete article of the ShellExecute() function on PSC. I compiled this using various articles from MSDN. Code examples include opening default app, opening default app with error reporting, opening a defined app, and find all files dialog box.

Form Fader OCX control (updated)

This is a Form Fader OCX control. Simply stick it on a form, set a few properties, and with two lines of code it will fade-in and fade-out the form smoothly. Also lets you fade the form by setting a fading (opacity) factor between 25% and 100%. Semi-transparent forms can be moved across the background with a realistic transparent effect. The Fader can be compiled separately, of course. This OCX Control is based on code by Ed Preston (and he deserves the votes).

Detects and closes W32Dasm Deassembler

Detects and closes W32Dasm Deassembler. Just a few lines of code. Well commented. Open W32Dasm Deassembler and run this program (or vice versa). It detects the presence of the deassembler, closes it and raises an exception/system error (if you so desire). I have checked this with URSoft W32Dasm v8.93. Please vote for me and intimate me if it works with other versions of W32Dasm too.

Winamp Style Resize

Winamp 2.80 and below had a resizing feature on it's playlist that resized the form in blocks of pixels instead of per pixel. The reason for it was because they didn't know how to stretch the playlist skins (i hope not), so instead they kept resizing it a certain amount of pixels and then painting the image block after it's last one. This does get you better quality on your skinning cause stretching would degrade the quality unless it wasn't made to be stretched. I am using this in an XP Control i'm working on right now because the vb Image control flickers when the stretch property is set to true and you want to resize it with a form. I figured resizing it per chunck of pixels rather than per pixel, it would reduce flickering and save resources on old computers. I havn't testing my theory, but this method still looks appealing to me. I think this would work great on borderless forms or unsizable forms for customizing. It's kinda sloppy but efficient ;)

WinBin - File Deletion Utility

Open a file and overwrite its contents with random binary data, up to 1 billion times. The length of the binary number is taken from the number of chars in the file to make sure it really is overwritten. Seems to be quite secure ;)

Adler-32 algorithm

Pure visual basic implementation of the Adler-32 algorithm. It is much faster than the CRC32 algorithm yet still provides an extremely low probability of undetected errors. Commonly used in the ZLIB/Deflate Compressed Data Format Specification version 3.3. More info can be found at http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/zlib/rfc-zlib.htm

Find any Lyrics, without the popups!

Tired of slow lyrics finding websites with all their popups? I was, until one night I decided to start a little something that turned into a big something. A very useful utility, this can retrive lyrics by artist or or both artist and song name for a quick find. You will see nothing from any lyrics website, this parses the pages from azlyrics.com and puts the lyrics into a rich textbox complete with html parsing (bold, italic, etc). Code is uncommented, yet there are barely any bugs that would bother anyone. If you like, vote - alot of work was put into this. Any improvements are welcome.

An Alternative Message Box (msgbox)

This code provides an alternative Messagebox with just 3 additional files to your project. 1 form, 1 module and 1 user control (chameleonButton Button by Conchuki). A complete designer has been included in the demo project which allows GUI design of msgboxes. Different icons, scroll bar, XP/2000 style etc. This was submitted a while ago as a bog standard msgbox by someone but I cannot find out who. Ive included the original. Please vote if you like it, if you don't, tell me why you don't so I can improve it. Enjoy!

VB-DX-Ball

This is VB-DX-Ball, a Breakout-clone based on DX-Ball 2. I know what you're thinking: *sarcasm* "o wow, another breakout game!" */sarcasm*, but you really should check this out. Apart from being a good example of applying DirectX in an actual game (it uses DirectDraw, DirectInput, DirectSound and DirectMusic), it's also a very cool game. When uploading this game, I got a time-out error every time, so I decided to devote a site to it. Just go to the downloads section and download the source-code version. After you checked it out, please come back here and tell me what you think of it.

HTML Syntax Highlighter Control

I created this control because there are a few good html syntax highlighting programs on PSC but none of the good ones are controls that are easiy put into one's program. This control supports basic highlighting, undo and redo, ability to change the font, fast copy and paste routines. I have use code from the following projects on PSC to make this and would like to give them credit: EzColorCode - Html Syntax Highlighting by Eric Banker SuperFastHTML-XML Highlighting by RegX

Disable Ctrl-Alt-Del in Win9x and Win NT/2K/XP too

The following code will demonstrate how to disable Ctrl-Alt-del in Win 9x platform, and how to disable various options in the Ctrl-Alt-Del List in Win NT/2K/XP. To understand the code, you must know how to use the Api functions, although I have tried to keep all the api's in seperate classes. There is also a class which determines if the OS is from Win9x or Win NT series. Hope you would fine some use for it.
